and sooooooo, the old decrypter will always work. who needs an upgrade

No. Old Decrypter cannot cope with the new Sony Protection.(Arcoss).

New DVD Fab Decrypter can. Old will, if you run AnyDVD in the background.

In short, anybody who wants to copy a DVD will be able to do it with ease.

a court case declared it illegal.

What a joke. Why? I thought the law was crystal clear that people could
make back up copies of their own DVD's? Isn't that established, concrete,
20 years of precedent, law by now?

You are wrong completely. There is no fair use clause that allows for
making backups of audio and video.

PS

And DVDs, because of the Digital Millenium Copyright Act of 1998 signed by
Bill Clinton, cannot be touched. It is illegal to have a media server in
the house and transmit to another TV, for example.

No. The developer - Lighting UK! received a 'cease and desist' notice from a
major Hollywood studio. He stopped it there and then.

It was macrovision that sued.
Oops, actually it was a threat from both Macrovision and Sony.

Questionable, but the thing is that litigation can drive these small

developers into the ground. That is what happened here, just the very real
threat of lawsuit from Macrovision got DVD Decrypter shut down. They have
enough money to sue till the sun comes up.
