What court case? I understood that it was the threat of legal action from
Hollywood that scared the crap out of the developer. |

What a joke. Why? I thought the law was crystal clear that people could make
back up copies of their own DVD's? Isn't that established, concrete, 20
years of precedent, law by now? |

If that is the case why did the developer have to do upgrades of Decrypter
to defeat new copy protection schemes? |

No. The developer - Lighting UK! received a 'cease and desist' notice from a
major Hollywood studio. He stopped it there and then. |

No. Old Decrypter cannot cope with the new Sony Protection.(Arcoss).
New DVD Fab Decrypter can. Old will, if you run AnyDVD in the background. |

There's confusion here.
The last working version of Decrypter can beat anything except anything new
NOW. So, Ricki was talking bollocks. |

It's a legal landmine. And, it's clear people aren't 'backing up', they're
copying insanely. |

Where might one obtain the software (the last working version, that is)? |

Who's copying insanely? Copying and doing what with the copies? Aren't DVD
sales through the roof? |
