Studio (plus) Version 9 Pinnacle |

Okay, so up to now, I did video editing the caveman way, from one
VCR to another, or from camera to VCR, sometimes via some kind of
interim mixer appliance - which was cool. Complicated, but cool.
So now I got a new PC as a birthday present, and afore-mentioned
Studio 9 plus, and it's amazing to work with.
However, in order to transfer video material from my old analog
JVC camera onto the PC, I have to plug in my new digital Panasonic
camera in FIRST - if I don't, my Studio 9 software doesn't know
what to do. As soon as I plug in the digital camera however,
the little screen up in the right-hand corner lights up with whatever
scene is playing in my analog camera, and everything is fine and
I can go ahead. Same goes for when I want to transfer material
from my VCR to the PC.
And, last but not least, I get "blips" that sound like a snore,
and greenish disturbances in the picture, from time to time - but
only with analog material. Which does tick me off, because the software
is supposed to be equally good for digital AND the old analog stuff.
They used to have "Studio DC 10" which was for both old and new, don't
know what that's called now.
Anyway - no rose without thorns.

Studio 10 was back in the analog days. Now, everyone is using firewire
to xfer video to the computer. Unless you have a "deluxe" breakout box,
analog in and out will have to be done thru a firewire camera with
analog i/o's. As for the drop outs and such with the tapes, that is
something that at times plagues analog capture. Usually, playing the
tape back on the recorded mechanism will solve most of these problems. |

You need to correct your statement that Studio 10 was back in the
analog days. I think you meant to say Studio DC10 hardware and not
the most current version of Pinnacle Studio 10 software version which
was just released in the last few days.
