(Note that i am a Complete Newb to anything video related especially
Divx, so if anything here doesnt make sense, its simply because i dont
know any better, i will accept any constructive criticism and i
apologize if this topic has been created before, i could not find it as
im also new to google groups)

Hi,

I was wondering if the divx Play 6 is a program you could run without
actually "installing" it. For example, could you just put the DivX
Player.exe file on a cd and run it from their, or would i still have to
install the codec on each machine? the reason im asking is because i
want to make an autorun cd that contains a video around 350MB.
obviously i still have plenty of room. I would normally just create an
autorun.inf file that looks like this:

[autorun]
open=LOSTS01E01.avi (that is the file name)

however windows associates .avi files with windows media player, but if
i try to open an AVI file encoded with Divx in WMP, it crashes. so what
i want to do is have my CD contain 3 files, the 350MB video file, the
Divx Player.exe file, and an autorun file. Now if i make my autorun
look like this:

[autorun]
open=DivX_Player.exe LOSTS01E01

will that work? im assuming that would overlook WMP and play directly
from the cd using Divx Player, but only if the divx player can be
played in that method. i also have one last question if you guys could
help. does version 6 support commands? for example, if i wanted it to
start playing in fullscreen, could i add /f or something to the end of
the command line? or another possibility, is im assuming that if you
configure the Divx Player that it must write to a small .cfg file
somewhere, maybe i could burn that on the cd too, so when if the
autorun file would at least start the divx player, then the divx player
would know to look to the .cfg file on the cd and start in fullscreen?
Sorry this ran on for so long but i figured id ask all my question in
one post instead of several... thank for your time!
