thermal infrared camera discussion group? |
|
|
Is there a newsgroup that's suitable for discussing thermal infrared camera
(not night vision). I could not find any using google's group. Perhaps a bbs
somewhere?
I want to know what kind of camera are best suited to check for heat leakage
in my house, and the best store to rent/buy it. Most stores I found with
google don't even have prices on these stuff.

While not the answer you wanted, you might check out some of
the astronomy stuff/groups. They are often into cooled sensors
(which I believe you need to do thermal imaging of a house).
From what little I have seen, they are special cameras (look at
the long IR, not the short IR like you can with some camcorders
and digital cameras) and are way out of my price range !!
I don't think you will find the camcorders that have the IR cutout
for "nightshot" (like Sony) will be able to "see" the longwave IR
from house leakage.

The local government or energy company may offer a service of |
inspecting your home for heat leaks. Companies that do heating,
replacement windows, or insulation may have This may not be
the best time of year to do it though.
