Microsoft offers a program at no charge called Microsoft Producer for
PowerPoint at:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=1b3c76d5-fc75-4f99-94bc-784919468e73&DisplayLang=en
which allows you to import one or more Powerpoint presentations, add music /
voice, add movie clips, and then save the whole thing out as a presentation
which contains a Windows Media Video file in .wmv format.
Once the video file has been created, it can then be input into a number of
authoring programs which accept .wmv format, or convert the .wmv video into
a DVD-compliant mpeg-2 video file for DVD authoring.
Before you jump for joy that there is a free solution which seems to perform
the required functions, let me caution you that my limited experience with
this program is that it is buggy and not entirely finished. You should check
it out and see if it fills your need.
Alternately, you can export each Powerpoint slide as a JPEG and then import
each of the slides into one of many slide show programs which allow you to
add audio, video clips, etc. and then make a DVD. We can offer further
details on this option if you wish.
Good luck,

I bought a program called
PowerPoint2DVD (total order US$109.95) which in fact does exactly that...
but I'm not very happy with it, perhaps I'm expecting too much. Try this:

You are not happy with it because it is awful.
See Camtasia Studio 3. Professional...retains video and audio admirably. |

Thanks for the advise on Camtasia Studio 3. I was curious & "had a date with
Camtasia". At a cost of US$ 450 & it's got to be very professional!!
I agree, PowerPoint2DVD is disappointing & I bought it 'cause it was in my
ball park... but for me to pay $450 for a program it's simply not on; this
is software to be purchased by a company or organization. |

After you are done importing your Powerpoint slides and adding whatever
sound and movie clips on the timeline you wish to add, you save the project
as a presentation. The resulting files which Microsoft Producer creates
includes the wmv file you can then take into other authoring programs.

My favorite prog for convert is Presentation_to_Video_Converter! It’s costs but it's worth of that money!
