I have a 13minute High quality DVD clip that I want to play repeatedly (TV
in shop window.) Its 835Mb, so can only get 5 copies on a DVD before
quality starts to be compressed.

What is the best way to compile a disc to get the DVD to repeat ad
infinitum.
I haven't found the option on any of the software I have, so perhaps I need
a specific program?

Any help appreciated

Regards
AW

generally it's a feature of the player as far as I know.
I used to even have a vcr that could do it.

Is this a DVD you authored yourself? What software are you using? Most
software will allow you to create a DVD that will loop. There should
be a way to make the end jump of the DVD go back to the begining of the
video.

TMPG DVD Author will do this.

There is a setting in the menu somewhere to set it to play the next track in
loop mode.

There is a setting in the menu somewhere to set it to play the next track
in
loop mode.

Another way in TDA would to have your clip be a motion
menu background. You could then use a text only layout and
space characters for an invisible text selection item. You
would change any unwanted text field to invisible spaces also,
or use the field as you wish.

Then you could use a remote to change to a different clip and
it would return to the menu after the selected clip has played.
If a clerk noticed a potential customer watching your display
a click on the remote could temporarily change the menu clip
to a "Come on In" clip, or whatever.

Luck;
Ken

Thanks for the suggestions to use TMPG / TSDA as a program. I'll look
into that.

I hope an 835Mb clip is acceptable as a menu background, I like that idea.
The video clip is a JVC produced demo disc in almost HDTV quality so it
needs to remain uncompressed etc.

I could make up a light sensor to trip say a remote button so that the
customer himself trips the sequence!!

thanks

Andrew

Use the A-B repeat feature. This is available on most DVD players, all
CD players and even a few VCRs. Never used it myself.

(Don't forget a delay so that the menu clip gets viewed first.)

As long as the clip is DVD compliant MPEG, and under a
gig, it should work fine.

I'm not sure what "almost HDTV quality" means, but the
clip must meet the DVD requirements for image size and
bit rate. Playable Video DVDs use compressed video, in
fact it is MPEG 1/2 that conforms to a particular set of
parameters. Some of those parameters can be exceeded
and the DVD still play, in some/most players.

If you had a DVD Player that plays "raw" video files,
has an "A-B" repeating setup, and will play the type of
video you have; that could work also. You might want
to check out the "Link Theater" at www.buffalotech.com
that gives you many more options.
