Audio problems |
|
|
Hi all,
I've got 2 avi (divx) files. When I play them in Windows Media Player,
I hear no audio. But when I open them up in Virtual Dub, everything is
fine!!
What can I do so 'repair' them?
Thanks,
Max

Install Linux, free Suse, download 5 or 6 CDs |
www.opensuse.org
Then use mplayer or xine.
Wipe those Billy The Gates tears from your disk.
Vdub runs in Linux 'wine' windows emulator, but not very good.
Somebody should port it.... Me? Why me? Any takers? |

It sounds as if you are missing a general codec you need. Use GSpot
to determine what type sound is used in the DivX files. GSpot will
tell you whether you have the needed codec installed or not. If you
don't have it installed, google to find the correct codec. One word
of caution: never install one of those multi-codec packages; install
only the codec you need.
GSpot is available here:
http://www.headbands.com/gspot/
The GSpot beta version seems to be OK and will provide information the
final version won't.
Two problem audio possibilities are MP3 and AC3. Installation of LAME
should take care of MP3. For AC3, you'll need something such as AC-3
ACM Decompressor. You can get that here:
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/AC-3_ACM_Decompressor.htm
If you have DivX files with Dolby versions of AC3 audio, the easiest
way of playing that with Windows Media Player may be to install a DVD
player program such as PowerDVD.
In any event, VirtualDub can usually convert any audio it can "hear"
to a type that Windows Media Player can handle.

Please stop with your Linux suggestions and crap, 99.99% use MS Windows.
Please post your mails in a Linux group.
Go and get a Heineken or Grolsch
and keep on smiling and be happy

You are completely of your rocker, out of your mind, and nuts. |
Probably the majority uses Linux, as I have to admit that the majority
now has also abandoned DivX and, since digital TV transmits mpeg2, makes
nice DVDs in Linux<---------- for free, while you, the poor Gates slave,
have to pay for both the OS AND the applications.
Good too, as you obviously never contributed any code.
Now apart from that and actually FIRST, this is a DivX group, not a MS
Windows zombies click and run gang, so and maybe you've never heard of Xvid
and how it is developed too.
And last but not even least:
the guys asked for a FREE solution.
One, you poor idiot that you are, canot EVER come up with, as not even that
Gates OS is free.
So f*ck of, if you do not want to read some postings, then do not read these:
Here is a good LINUX newsreader that allows you to do that (see headers).
Oh, you do not know what headers are. of cause.
click your mouse on your brain.
Ah... no response: brain dead.
Bye Billy :-) |
