that has to be the dumbest answer on usnet so far today, congratulations,
here is your cigar.............
if burning at 4x is unsupported by the firmware then the drive would simply
refuse to burn them. much the same as if you put a dual layer disk in one of
the older drives that didn't support it and tried to burn it as a DL disk,
just not going to happen.
this is a cut and paste from the Pioneer Aus site with the specks for the
110D
Write Speed
DVD-R 16x, 12x, 8x, 6x, 4x, 2x, 1x
DVD-RW 6x, 4x, 2x, 1x
DVD-R DL 8x, 6x, 4x, 2x
DVD+R 16x, 12x, 8x, 6x, 4x. 2.4x
DVD+RW 8x, 6x, 4x, 2.4x
DVD+R DL 8x, 6x, 4x, 2.4x 8cm
DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW with Adapter 2x, 1x
CD-R 40x, 32x, 24x, 16x, 10x, 4x
CD-RW 32x, 24x, 20x, 16x, 10x, 4x
next time think before you just make shit up because you want to sound
intelligent Doh!

could it be this
from the Pioneer web site
"'An 80-wire IDE cable is required for 16X DVD writing speed. "
maybe the people who built your system skimped on the cable, just a thought

Firmware has media codes. If firmware does not have that media code
then it drops down to 4x. Which is why there are firmware patches in
the first place. All of this is on pioneers own web site. |

You are a bloody fool. Specs are one thing but if that media is not in
the firmware it will NEVER EVER burn at that speed. Go read the
firmware updates and it gives a media list of what medi awill burn to
what speed. On the graph it states that if the media is not on the
list it will burn at 4x.
HENCE you need to update the firmware moron.

so what version do you have?, 1.20 is the lastest dated 4th May 2005, if
your computer is new I would have expected it would have the latest
version on there already. |
