I keep seeing reference to a way of getting the 30-second skip with
keystrokes in the Series 2 TIVO. But I haven't seen anyone post how
to do it. How?

Duh. Doesn't anyone use Google.

Just enter "tivo 30 second skip"

as your search subject.

You all muat live in a very dull world, since you already know
everything there isn't anytthing new to learn. I find learning new
things the spice of life.

I find having the intelligence to learn new things for myself rather than
having someone else feed them to me the spice of life.

I mean, I was nice and gave you the friggin' answer, as well as a clue on
how to educate yourself in the future...but now that you've copped a 'tude,
so will I. How in the hell did you "not see anyone post this answer". I
mean really. You can see it without even freaking looking.

Not to be confrontational, but Google is an excellent tool for learning
new things. Usually much quicker than usenet.

Well, they just taught you to use Google. Isn't that spicy enough?

With that I wholeheartedly agree.
And I find Google to be one of the best places *ever* to do it.

Google is a great gift to knowledge seekers everywhere.

You're welcome!

I think you missed the point. "Just Google it" is precisely that --
telling you to learn something rather than asking us to learn it for you.
Go get some spice. There's a lot of it and it's free and nearly
instantaneous to get.

The 60-second skip seems more logical, since commercial breaks tend to be
for a number of full minutes...

1. Play a recorded program
2. Select-Play-Select-3-0-Select
3. If successful you will hear 3 bongs.

Not necessarily. Most commercials are 30 seconds long, with many 15
second commercials as well, though they're usually back-to-back w/
another 15 s commercial. Are breaks usually in whole minutes? I don't
think so, but even if they were 90% of the time, would you rather have
to push the 30 s skip button one more time, or have to rewind for the
other 10%? Most people would choose the former, I think.
