My Vacuum cleaner |
|
|
I won a vacuum cleaner on fleabay, the seller was local so I just went to pick
it up. Walked into the store and as I was waiting to the guy to get my vacuum
from the back I started looking around the store and found a box full of crap
with an MTX amp in it. Being fan of MTX amps I knew right away what I was
looking at, a MTX 1501d mono block amp. I says to the guy how much? He says
this amp is broken it power on but only plays bass and there is no trouble
that plays through the speakers LOL. I says alright how much he says make an
offer, I told him that it would more then likely cost $200 or so to repair so
the best that I can do is $75 tax in. He agreed. Never the less I drove home
like a mad man just to install this thing before it got dark. Got home ripped
out my MTX 801d and pop in the new amp and damn this thing rips. The 801d
kicked the hell out of my pair of sony 350 watt rms 12" subs at @2ohms, this
new amp is just insane. This brings me to my question. I'm thinking of going
with 4 8ohm 12" subs or would I be better off going with a pair of 4ohm 15"
subs for better SQ and SPL in a ported box?

SPL will come with more displacement.. along with your new power. SQ is
a matter of taste.
How many and how big is a matter of coin on hand.

That's an unbelieveable deal. I had an 8100d which is essentially an older
model of the same amp I believe, and had it hooked up to an 18" sub. It
pounded.
