ISO UTC O-12 transformer |
|
|
Does anyone happen to have one of these puppies in their junk box, by
any chance? Restoring an old compressor to it's former glory...

Doesn't UTC still make all the ouncers? They are in the latest catalogue
I have here.

And who is selling them, Scott? I was sure UTC was long-gone.

UTC was bought by Triad. Triad was bought by Magnetek.

But I don't think any of them makes the ouncers anymore. I'd love to be
proven wrong. Triad's UTC cross reference page doesn't even work. Why
would O-12's be selling for $100usd on eBay?
Anyone familiar with CineMag? |

Which is one big reason the old 1176LN's sound the way they do. I know
I can use a Lundahl, Cinemag, or Jensen, but I want to retain the
original "character" of the units.
Let me know what you find. Reply to retrotech AT comcast DOT net |

Yes, it's Reichenbach's company. They make nice transformers but they don't
make tape or film heads any more.

Tried both of them, and several more. No dice. UA gets theirs from
Cinemag. |

Hard to repair one that doesn't exist. I'm restoring a piece of gear...
someone removed the O-12 and put the wrong transformer in it's place.

Nope, some moron replaced the O-12 (2:1) with an O-10 (1:60). It almost
gave the input enough gain to be a simple mic pre. :-)
