I have a personal DVD video that I created.

I would like to extract a photograph from the DVD .

Is there software to do this?

Yes... in a round'a'bout way

Read at http://www.videohelp.com/

You need to "rip" the file from the DVD into a file you
may view/edit on your computer... then in whatever software
you use to view/edit the "ripped" file, you extract one frame

You just need to do a frame capture from your dvd playback software on your
pc. WinDVD and PowerDVD both can take snapshots..

i do what Biz does, it saves it as a BMP then i convert it.

One way, besides what has been suggested above by others, is to get
VirtualDub Mpeg-2 (here: http://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/),
and just open dvd's .vob files in virtualdub. There you can scroll the
movie frame by frame, set the start- end- markers around the photographs
that you need and select "Save image sequence" from the file menu.
It will save individual frames as .bmp or .tga files (whichever one you
choose). You can batch the jobs if you need to extract multiple
photographs.
