It isn't a "read only"...reads/writes all formats.

Just be careful even PLAYING a DVD -RAM from a Panasonic in an LG, cos
you'll never be able to do anything with it in your panny again!

??? That in my experience, is *not* true. I own a Panasonic E65 and
working with dvd-ram is not simple under WindowsXP (many oddities) but
I never knew the problem you'r talking about.

LG's GSA-4160B reads/writes all known formats including DVD-RAM [I own
one, its performed flawlessly for 10 months now] and its an inexpensive
drive too.
