Driving remote monitor speakers from a 2 speaker system |
|
|
I want to drive two bookshelf speakers and two remote "Monitor"
speakers from a single compact stereo system. Inputs would be either an
iPod Nano or an AirPort Express (if there's only one analog input I'd
probably use a mini-jack splitter).
I've had a tough time finding what I want, but this JVC 'executive'
system seems close:
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00021MX0C/ref=wl_it_dp/002-8441600-6444067?%5Fencoding=UTF8&coliid=I9J6O2RE1U59E&v=glance&colid=KG7T8CF6S94Y
Problem is, it only supports two speakers. If the monitor speakers are
roughly the same impedance, can I simply jam their wires into the
speaker connectors? Is there a more elegant solution?
Thanks!

If they are the same impedance, jamming in two pairs will, in effect,
halve that impedance and the amp may not handle that well. I suggest,
if you are limited to such combos, get one that has provision for more
than one set of speakers.

Thanks Kal. Looks like that idea bit the dust!
