After calling literally a dozen "hack" internet camera mail order houses that
claimed to have the 7D in stock and ready to ship, I was told by each and every
one of them that they had received a shipment and they were all gone. Funny, at
a couple of the same places just days before, I was told by other sales reps
that they had never even received any. Oh well. I finally got a straight answer
from B&H Photo Video (probably why I use them the most in the first place) and
the guy there told me that it was official, but that they are being told there
is a rumour that the 7Ds won't be available until after the first of the year.
What the hell is going on at KM? Besides being way behind in the MP part of the
game.

Take care,
JD

Well, duh, maybe those of us who have made a very good living using Minolta
products over the past few years? I have literally over a dozen of Minolta's
pro-glass and although I wish their first effort was more than 6.1MP, I still
can't wait to add the new body to my arsenal. How's that for ya? :>P

There have been a few people who have received them already, but every shop
that claims to have them "in stock" online today even, doesn't have a single
one ready to go. Still rumored to not have a second batch until early January.
That sucks!

This is the first digital DSLR from Minolta/Konica. It is hard to
get large volumes for the first one early. Olympus and Pentax had
the same problems. This sux of course - but it is hard to avoide
I assume.

I've had my wonderful new 7D here (Seattle) in my hot little hands since
Nov 15. Pre-ordered it from Ritz Cameras on Oct 19, and they shipped it
Nov 11.

Getting the impression I wasn't the only one to do so, which may explain
why the first batch went so fast...?

Being one of those lucky enough to already have a 7D, I will hope your
explanation is the correct one - and not a problem of random sudden
detonations in the first production run. Maybe I'll put on the flak
jacket for a while just in case... ;^)

As did Canon with the 20D. I was 3rd and 4th on the waiting list at my
local store. They called me, I picked up mine and the other two were gone
by the time I left. NCC got 4 cameras, and they sold 4 cameras in less than
15 minutes.

Well, I wish KM would get the lead out, so I can read all the owner reports.

I received my 7D last week from B&H. I was checking out their web site
for kicks to see if they were in stock and I think they just posted 'in
stock', so I ordered it right then. I heard they sold out in two hours
I guess I was just lucky to get in on the first order. I have to tell
you this camera is a "photographer's dream come true".

Well, I just received a phone call from Ritz Camera and they assure me that I

can have a 7D in about a week. So, I'm going to take a chance on them and go
for it instead of waiting for my usual source.

Take care,
JD
