Compatibility of different recorders when connected |
|
|
Hello all,
I'm very new to all this dvd recording stuff so forgive me if this is a
stupid question.
I work in a college which has several Panasonic DVD
recorders(DMR-E55EB/EBL) to record educational programmes off air.
These recorders do not support DVD-RW format, only DVD-R and DVD-RAM.
At home I have a Hitachi DVRX7000E and my colleage has a Pioneer
recorder. Both of ours support DVD-RW formats. We want to buy a machine
for work, and connect it to one of the Panasonics, that will enable us
to bring in our unfinalised DVD-RW disks from the Hitachi and Pioneer
machines, and transfer the recordings on to the work Panasonics. The
machine we buy will also ideally play the unfinalised DVD-RAM disks
from the Panasonics.
Is there any such machine on the market or are all unfinalised DVD-RW
disks and DVD-RAM disks only playable on the machines that recorded on
them? I'm in the UK.
Thanks,
Sean

I would say your best bet would be one of the newer Panasonics with a |
harddrive and -RW support for maximum flexibility.
Can't guarantee how it would react to an unfinalised disc from a Hitachi.
Why not take a disc to a dealer and try it?

I tried Pioneer and Toshiba and the unfinalized dvd-rw's are not
compatible. I think most brands have this issue. You must finalize and
can unfinalized later to share dvd's. |
