Transferring 8mm digital and 8mm analog videos to DVD |
|
|
I have been transferring 8 mm DIGITAL home videos and 8 mm ANALOG home
videos to my PC and burning them to DVD.
120 minutes of analog 8 mm video can be transferred to DVD.
Only 80 minutes of digital 8 mm video can be transferred to DVD.
Why is there such a big a difference?
Sony digital camcorder is used to transfer both 8 mm formats to PC.
Sony VAIO software is used to convert digital and analog 8 mm data to MPEG2
format.
ULEAD, Video Studio 7 is used to burn data to DVD.
Operating system: Windows XP Home edition.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Don

The obvious answer is file size and resolution. I'm assuming your
analog capture is being encoded to mpeg 2 format, and your digital 8
is being captured to dv format. |

But if that were true, he could only get about 20 min of dv data on a DVD. He
said it was 80, so both results are obviously compressed.
