Nero ultra 6 upgrade won't work on win 2000 |
|
|
I bought nero ultra 6 in Feb 2004 and installed on win 2000. I have
I-Omega DVD RW drive. Nero worked very well so far. I checked the nero
web site and found there is a upgrade for current users of nero 6
ultra edition.
After install all the upgrades as listed on web site "nero.com", now I
can not burn DVDs any more. CD rom burn works okay. Also every time I
start nero express it ejects the CD out and in for 6 times before the
program starts. Very annoying to wait untill this software upgrade
starts.
Finally I un-installed all the nero and re-installed from the origial
distribution. Now everything back to normal and works.
So folks, any one else tried Nero Ultra 6 upgrade on win 2000? Any
luck with new upgrade?

Thank you David for the response.
It tured out to be the DVD drive I am using. I bought I-Omega 8X RW
duel format DVD drive just about two months ago. It is DVD RW 1008
same as BTC 1008 drive.
This drive needs firmware upgrade. Otherwise Nero 6 upgrade simply
won't work. It burns DVD but the DVD won't show any file on DVD player
and even on PC!
Thanks to Nero tech support response to my problem. They took two
weeks to response but it solved the problem.
So if any one has similar problem with I-Omega DVD RW 1008 drive, look
at I-Omega web site and upgrade firmware.

Both those drives are shit drives and try to copy protected DVD for
backup with DVD shrink because Nero will not. The firmware does have
copy protection built into. I had one and tried to upgrade the
firmware and destroyed the drive. Why anyone would buy any drive with
the 1008 drive made in china when you can buy a pioneer made in Canada
or a Memorex is beyond me.

I agree with you. If I knew the information you gave now, I would not
have bought this drive. I like I-Omega name because my experience with
their products in the past is good. Now I know I-Omega uses 1008 drive
inside their DVD drive.
For firmware upgrade, I-Omega site is confusing. There are several
upgrades listed. Not just last one. It is confusing to pick one driver
from many. I was lucky, I could upgrade the firmware and got Nero
working.
