The LITEON 5005 is not a dual layer recorder just single layer, (but a dual
layer drive may be able to be swapped).
never tried it.

How bout the LITEON 5005, ($199.99) has 40 pin IDE connector DVD rom,
you
can likely swap with any dual layer DVD drive.

The OS ROM has no clue about dual layer. This is not an intelligent
insight
or suggestion.

This will NOT work.

All in one? it`s a regular dvd recorder like any other (cable, and rca,
s-video inputs etc.... ) but better than the usual dvd recorders because
it
has 40 pin IDE cable if the laser in the dvd drive or anything breaks
just
swap the drive with any computer drive even cd drive,(can`t do that with
regular non IDE drives) like the sony playstation 2 if the dvd drive
won`t
read the discs anymore you have to buy a new drive from sony, very
expensive
or just buy a new ps2, but xbox has IDE drive(you understand?)

Most people who are serious about video or electronics would not touch a
combo
VCR/DVD Walmart special burner, period. they are all built like crap and
come
from low budget names such as magnavox etc...

I must tell Philips that they are a low budget company.

They are aren't they?
