JVC BR-S622U VTR Questions |

I've got a JVC BR-S622U S-VHS deck with the time-base corrector and
component out options. I recently tried to capture footage to my PC
using the component outputs and an old Pinnacle Targa 2000 capture
card. With the TBC off there were large patches of color (mainly red)
all over the picture. Turning on the TBC helped correct this problem
but I could still not get a suitable picture. I could only get a very
washed out image with little color or an image with much too high
saturation.
I know the tape was not the problem and I don't think the capture card
is either.
Can anybody comment on the quality of this deck? Does this sound like
a hardware problem or am I simply unskilled setting the TBC controls?
At least in the previews (I didn't actually record the footage due to
the color problems) there was also distortion (waviness) near the top
of the image. I've seen this with consumer level VCRs and lower
quality capture devices but thought a better quality deck, especially
one with a TBC would eliminate this problem.
