Re: dvd plays in standalone but not PC |

Hi Fred
DVD files should always show up when looking at a disc on a PC.
From what you've described, (and with your DVD drive being a few years old)
I'm guessing that your DVD drive is not compatible with the disc (ie +R or-R
flavour).
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi
I'm relatively new at this but here's my problem:
A friend made a film and burned it to a DVD for me.
Now I want to rip the film and edit it .
The DVD plays in a standalone player (a Samsung S224)
but no files show up on the PC in Windows explorer.
Windows Explorer says "Insert a disc";
DVDDecypter says "unable to recover TOC"
I have a Toshiba M1212 DVD drive and Windows 2000.
I belive the DVD was made with Adobe Premiere.
I'm thinking maybe it could be a +R or -R issue or that kind of thing.
There is a label on the DVD, so I cannot see what kind it is.
Do you specialists think that could be the problem?
Or is there another format for DVDs, like a kind of "raw" format that
plays on a standalone player but doesnt show up as files on a PC?
Thanks
Fred |
