Divx to DVD Recomendation? |
|
|
I have a series of half hour divx files I want to convert to DVDs that I can
play in the living room. I would like to fit 4 or more shows on each DVD.
What software fits the bill? Is there a simple one step solution? (Super DVD
Creator looks promising, is it any good?)

That is a backwards step. Why not purchase a player that handles divx files? They are almost
giving them away these days. |

I'd spent the weekend just gone looking for something to do this, googled
til I'd gone mad(!), then found this....
http://www.vso-software.fr/divxtodvd/divxtodvd2.htm
Converts several divx files to dvd structure (vob files etc) in one go, was
just what I was looking for, for those films I've got in two parts.
May even buy it ;-) |

I often use DivxToDVD (free version) but one thing you should be
aware of is that if you download and convert a lot, many times you
will run into audio out of sync problems. If the input file framerate
is 29.97 or 30 to start with, then converting to an NTSC DVD is likely
gonna' be ok. But for input .avi with lower framerate you need to
use other freeware/shareware combinations to get a good conversion
that doesn't blur during fast motion and doesn't get audio out of sync.
No one software works for everything.
I think getting a divx/xvid capable player is prolly a good idea.
Only reason I stick with my Philips 724 is because it's unusual
in that it has 2 pairs of RCA audio outputs. So I can put audio
from DVD/VCD/CDR through both the TV and my stereo. It's
hard to find another player with that feature. So I'm gonna'
hobble along until I break down and buy an HDTV. :)

Cheers Miles, I'm still playing with it at the moment, I'll look out for
that.
