I realize this may not be the proper place to post this question. But there
seems to be a wealth of knowledge here. And, in a round about way, I was
hoping for help with posting a LARGE Divx file. Thanks if you can help! It's
my first attemp. Just trying to learn something.

I can post no problem. However, I am trying to post a large movie (Dances
with Wolves) that is in Divx format. The movie is a large DVD rip that I did
myself. I decided to rip it to 1.5 Gigs to maintain very high quality. Keep
in mind it was a very long movie to begin with so it would have been a large
file anyways unless I compromised a little quality. The file was split up
(rar'd) and par files were created. It's ready to be posted!!! The problem
is that when I tell PowerPost2000 ( the program I'm using) to post it, the
program takes the 15 megabyte rar files and proceeds to slit them into 11
smaller files rather that posting one 15 megabyte file. Am I missing
something? Do I need a different program to avoid this? There was an option
in the program to set the maximum number of lines per file which was set to
5000. At that setting, it wanted to split the same 15 meg rar into 64
pieces. Changing it to 32000 max lines helped. But I can't select a larger
number than 32000. The program won't allow it. At that setting it splits
each 15 meg rar file into 11 smaller files. And that sucks! Especially since
this movie has so many 15 megabyte rars. The troulble that someone would
have to go through to get this movie wouldn't be worth it!

I've posted to newsgroups in the past with my email address and instantly
started to receive alot of spam so please respond to newsgroup.

What you describe is normal. so, yes, I think you are missing
something. Binary posts on Usenet are actually composed of multiple
text files. These are usually called "parts". These are what your
posting program is creating from your rar files. You just don't see
them nowadays, as newsreading apps such as Xnews or Agent combine them
together as they go. In the old days you had to do it yourself.

I just downloaded a binary file of 14 MB, and it was in 36 parts.

Hasn't everyone in the world already seen dances With Wolves, anyway?
