Nero Help Please |
|
|
Hi, i have just copied some home burned discs for my girlfriend using Nero
version 6,0,0,16 (at least thats what the nero info tool says). However it
has not deleted the temp files on my hard drive when done copying and i
cannot find them. I know they are called TempImage.nrg and i know where they
should be, but they are not there and searching the hard drive does not find
them.
Can anyone tell me where they are so i can delete them please.
Like i said i am using Nero 6 0 0 16 and running XP Pro 5.01.2600 Sp1.
Thanks
Stevie

Cheers for the reply, but they are not there. The default directory was |
C:\Documents and Settings\my name\Local Settings\Temp. But they are not
there either and Windows reports its size only to be 802MB.
This really has me stumped.
Again though, thanks for taking the time to reply.

Why don't you just search your hard drive(s)
for *.nrg?

Tried that, but no joy either. Besides it always saves to default name |
TempImage.nrg and i copied 5 discs so you would think one would overwrite
the other if they were not being deleted. I really don't understand it at
all. But thanks anyway mate.

Well if it's not there it's not there. Either
you haven't turned on all the show files options
or Nero deletes temp files automatically which I
think is the default unless you change it under
preferences.

thats what i thought too, but both norton and windows disc space say i'm |
down to 1.5 gb on a drive that yesterday was sitting about 25-30gb before i
copied 5 discs. I know it sounds like it shouldn't happen but it is
happening!
Oh well bugger it, i'll go and put some Led Zep on and forget about it for a
while.
Cheers for the suggestion though.

Problem is Norton I think. You've prob got recycle bin protection on or
something.
Doesn't that not really delete stuff or something? I remember that cropping
up on my mates PC a while back.

Yeah Norton holds crap and you have to purge it every now and then.

You can always check with the setting to find out which DRIVE/FOLDER you
set up it to store the TEMP file. I do not have problem with Nero's temp
file, but I do have lot of problem with Win XP Pro. won't delete many temp
file (lot of WinRAR's temp files and each costs up to 4.xGB).
1. Check with the setting
2. Use FIND option to locate the specific filename.
Good luck! |

Ohhh... now you are talking! the problem isn't Nero nor Search, but
between you and Norton and its Recycle Bin setting (a better way to waste
disk space).
Since you don't know much of the problem to describe, I can only be able
to make a wild guess base on the tiny information given by you.
1. I don't know how many years ago, but Norton has its own Recycle Bin with
option to Keep/Store up to so many % or up to so many GIG of the deleted
files.
IOW, when you delete (5) "TempImage.nrg" Norton won't send them directly
to heaven, but store in its own coffin to eat up your disk space. Or
those 20+GB and MORE are Norton Waste Bank.
2. Your solution, pick your choice
- Turn Off the option
- Reduce the Size
- Manually empty the datas in Norton's Recycle Bin |

I make a point of emptying the "Norton protected recycle bin" every
time I start a project.
The easiest way is to right-click the desktop icon and choose "Empty
the recycle bin".
