Because you have to add a MPEG2-plugin ($).
DivX 6.0 create bundle = Dr. DivX light |

I use DIVX 6.0 in all my video editors, which naturally includes VirtualDub,
but also Vegas Video. I find that 6.0 produces much superior results to 5.0
with higher quality at lower bit rates. I am now able to put two hours of
a movie on a CD with a quality just slightly less than a DVD but much
superior to VHS. I couldn't do this reliably with 5.0.

I have the Phillips DVP642 DVD player and my DIVX 6.0 files play just fine
on it. The great thing about this DVD player is it plays the DIVX files
well and it's rather cheap in price. I got mine for $57 plus tax.
