BSS FDS366 Omnidrive boot failure |
|
|
I have a couple of FDS366s which were both subjected to a nasty power
supply spike and are now exhibiting odd behaviour. The power supplies
themselves seem OK (all voltages correct) but the FDSs are in a continual 5
second loop on bootup - they get just to the point that the initial
graphics are appearing on the display and then reset..ad infinitum. I have
been able to put them in firmware update mode, and reloaded the software
from the BSS site, at which point they work just fine... until I rapidly
cycle the power, at which point they loose their lunch and revert to loopy
mode. I suspect corrupted boot block code but have no way of prooving this.
Has anyone else encountered this problem ?.
[I do have a good umit and a Needhams programmer, which does handle the
29F800, but pulling the flash out of the goodie is a fairly invasive
procedure, not to mention the hassle of making a SOIC44->DIP adaptor so I
can copy the chip etc so I'd like to make sure I'm on the right track
before I do major surgery]
cheers

Yes, exactly the same problem when powered from a poor quality generator.
Problem cured itself once stable power was supplied.
Not sure if this information helps your situation in any way but there you
go.
