I have an newer machine (sempron 3000+, 1gig nforce2 chipset motherboard)
with the latest drivers and codecs. When I try to play a divx file, the
audio plays beautifully but the vocals in the soundtrack are very soft in
comparison to all the other sounds. It make the movie pretty much
unwatchable. I have played with my nforce sound settings and tried
different speaker settings to get this to equalize with no luck. Any
thoughts would really be appreciated.

try reinstall your AC3 filter, or
boost up volume on center speaker if you have 5.1
