Flat-panel prices should continue to drop |

http://www.usatoday.com/tech/products/2005-08-14-flat-screens_x.htm
....Prices for flat panels have finally begun to tumble — by as much as
35% in the past year — as soaring demand for the two leading flat-panel
technologies, plasma and liquid crystal display, or LCD, attracts a host
of new competitors...

It'll be a long time before I spend any money on a TV until the networks
provide better quality video (including no network logos or pop up ads). |

That's smart////kinda like saying you won't buy a car until the oil |
companies put better detergent in their gasoline.

Networks want more ad dollars. Advertisers want more viewers. Viewers
won't be viewing (as much) if the TVs are crap. The networks have a reason
to be concerned. If the networks have a clue, they will pressure the TV
makers to do better.

I need a car, I can get by without a TV. Most people can get by without a
TV so why spend money, especially thousands of dollars, on something that
doesn't give you the best possible picture? It's not the TV manufacturers
fault that the networks are doing that crap but they can certainly put a
lot of pressure on the networks when it's affecting their sales. Because I
don't believe in paying for commercials, I don't have anymore
subscriptions. So my HDTV TV sits idle unless I rent a DVD. If I do decide
to spend money on a plasma or LCD, I'll only watch DVD's. But, the prices
will have to drop below $1000 for a 42 inch 16:9 set. |
