Hi,

I am having unbelievable trouble trying to create a watchable DVD that will
actually play correctly in my player or on
the PC when burned to DVD+R.

Playback is jerky and audio is breaking up (both are what I would call
stuttery).

Having blown a number of DVD+R coasters I am now using a DVD+RW disc to
allow me to experiment.

The DVD source is from my miniDV camera. All the AVI's from the camcorder
look great on the PC, and the edited AVI file (using windows XP Movie Maker)
is equally good.

I have found that the VOB Files which are created in the later stages dont
play properly on my DVD player or in
WinDVD/Power DVD on the computer BUT play fine when I simply rename the VOB
extention to MPG and then play these on
the PC.

What am I doing wrong, I have downloaded a dozen demo products and all of
them produce a shoddy result.

Here's the log file from a package called copy2dvd which I just used to
create the
latest failed attempt, please note that the log file needs to be read from
the bottom upwards :)

Thanks for taking the time to read this - it really can't be as hard as it
seems!!!!

What encoder are you using or are you just exporting an .avi file? If you
are using an MPEG encoder, try using 8MBs and CBR.

You need to settle on certain software and then go through how you are
creating the DVD and what settings.

More help might be at http://www.videohelp.com

Clark

What software are you using to author the DVD.

What software are you using to author the DVD.

It sounds like the problem is introduced by your .ifo
files, so you need to look at how your author program
is setup. That the .vob files play correctly when you
change their extension to .mpg, suggests that the video
data in the .vob is sequential or that your player is
scanning for GOP headers before it plays .mpg. With
the .ifo in the process, you seem to have your problem.

Assuming that Movie Maker is outputting an AVI file,
what are you using to Encode to a DVD compliant
MPEG ?; and what are you using to Author the DVD?
With what and how are you burning the DVD?

Luck;
Ken

Did you try to play Video_ts folder from the hardisk? Is the problem already
there? If not, it means, your DVD drives have problems to read your disc
properly. If it is already there, it might have something to do with wrong
framerate. Is your source NTSC or PAL? When you play the renamed vob, what
framerate does it have? How do you create an MPG file?
