Burning software for Pioneer A08 |
|
|
I would appreciate any recommendations for good DVD burning software for the
Pioneer A08. My best experience to date with slower burners has been with
Sonic's RecordNow. From their web site it appears that they do not support
the A08 yet. Has anybody used the A08 with RecordNow at 8X or above or have
any better suggestions for software? Thanks very much.

Well, I upgraded to 6.6 (from 5.5) and have found it to work well so far
with a few minor glitches. The only app I've really used is the new Burning
ROM, but there are sure a lot of other things now bundled with the
"Ultimate" version. The DVD authoring app actually seems quite nice,
particularly considering how inexpensive it is. I'll have more insight after
I've had some time to fool with this new stuff. The Sonic RecordNow which
uses the older Prassi engine seems to do fine at 8X as well (much to my
surprise!) despite no claims by Sonic that it is certified with the A08.

6.6 ..

I just found a site that is advertising Sonic's DVD It 5 with the
Pioneer A08 for $299.00, so I am assuming this must work with it well.
Just my imput, thanks

Re: Burning software for Pioneer A08 |

The main culprit in reliability problems in Nero Ultra is Vision Express 3.
The list of bugs is significant, including inability to change text on
special effects text objects and erratic rencoding. Vision Express 2 is
very stable in the latest version, and I use it extensively (despite some
design limitations that are baffling and not improved in the newer version).
Express 3 is nearly identical (except more buggy) than Express 2, mostly
adding support for VR discs. The encoding process in Express 3 is 35%
slower than Express 2 with no gain at all in quality.
Many of us have kept everything from Nero 6.6 except Express 3. I
uninstalled this and re-installed the latest Express 2....I will wait for
Express 3 to go through some cycles of revision before trying it again.
With your purchase, you are entitled to 'downgrade' to Express 2. I suggest
considering this option.

Re: Burning software for Pioneer A08 |

Thanks for the warning and additional information luminos. I located what I
believe to be the final version 2 release, v 2.1.2.21 (Nov 2, 2004 @
26,464,256 bytes) on Nero's FTP site and have downloaded it. I will replace
the version 3 installation with this one to avoid the problems you cite.
Given Nero's legacy, I expect that they will catch up with these version 3
bugs and will also try new releases on one of my other machines here as Nero
releases them but will keep version 2 on my "production" machine. Many
thanks again.
