I have obtained 4 mpeg2 files and 1 mpeg1 file that I am trying to get onto
1 DVD.

I have rerendered the mpeg1 file using Video Studio8 so that the video is
now 720x576 and the sound is 48k rather than 44k. It refuses to allow me to
make a AC3 file (the other 4 that are mpeg2 files did).

When I then try to use VS8 to author the dvd with menus etc all appears to
work fine but then when I play the file or disk this particular file is
silent.

If I use Movie Factory 3 Disk Creator it appears to work and takes a long
time then tells me that one or more of the files has audio that is not
compatable with the program and fails to create any files in the video_ts
folder.

I am in the UK and using PAL and all the source files are PAL, both Ulead
programs will work with AC3 files.

Anyone any ideas?

Get hold of TmpGenc DVD Author - it's work with AC3 files, and re-encode
LPCM Audio to MP2 audio, also it makes a nice job of taking Mpeg1 files with
44KHz audio and making them work properly on a DVD.

If the 4 source Mpeg2 & the single Mpeg1 were placed as separate tracks it
should work a treat.

I had this same problem. Drop Movie Factory 3. Sorry.

I had another play last night and have come to the conclusion that I may
have to totally start again with the offending file.

I have worked with the other 4 and made the DVD that works just great.

I think Sheppy may have misunderstood slightly as I can see what he is
saying and may give it a try but I do not want LPCM or MP2 audio I want AC3
audio so need change the audio from 44k stereo to 48k in order to encode
them to AC3 and this appears to be where the problem lies. Will TmpGenc DVD
Author do this?

Thanks for the help.

TDA has a extra cost 2 channel AC3 encoder, you can buy.
It will let you set a conversion as the default. This AC3 plug-in
will also work with other TMPGEnc products.
