Newbie authoring questions, round 2 |
|
|
General question first, I'm general terminology challenged.
When people talk about DVD authoring does that include the process and
software to:
- Capture/encode video content
- Edit the content
- Create a DVD layout
- Burn the DVD
Or are some of these seperate, if related topics?
Real question. I've just played around with Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2se
(came with the Hauppauge 350 DVR card). It worked okay, but I noticed
that editing out commercials on a 2 hour show was tedious with the small
scroll bar. Also I noticed that when designing the DVD main menu that I
did not see an obvious way to have a 'play movie' link (but may have
misssed the click step for this).
Anyway, should I bite the bullet and buy a full commercial package such
as TMPGenc, which many of you have talked about?
Does that software also do the final step and burn to the DVD like the
ULead package does?
I have software/hardware to do the capture part. I need something to do
some editing (mostly remove commercials) and then make a decent (does not
need to be super special) DVD disk/menu.
Hope the questions make sense.
TIA!

Capturing/encoding is usually done within a video editing program.
Creating the DVD menus, and burning is usually done with a DVD authoring
program.

Now.. with that said, there are several programs on the market that
claim to do everything, usually while missing some pretty key features
in my opinion. However, some of these so called "all in one programs
would be worth investigating such as Adobe's Premiere elements. :)
