Hi,

I just downloaded a fan film of starwars, in divx format. A free one of
course. It is a divx with menus inside. Very fun to watch.
I would like to watch it on my home dvd player.

Is there a "free" way to burn it on a dvd as dvd format and keeping the
divx menus?

Thanks

Not sure about the menus, but you can still burn the movie to disc.
You can use VSO DivXToDVD,and then use DVD Shrink to make an image to burn
to DVD

For VSO DivxToDVD

You can use DVD2SVCD to convert the avi with menus to DVD.
www.dvd2svcd.org

You need TMPGEnc Plus for the conversion to mpeg2 but you can download a trial
version: http://www.pegasys-inc.com/en/download/tp.html

DVD2SVCD has a lot of options so you might want to look at some guides.
The main thing is by default the "Motion picture precision" setting on the
Encoder Tab is set to "Highest Quality". If you don't want to wait all night
for the conversion change it to "Normal". The picture quality isn't quite as
good but it only takes a couple of hours. :)

I have had good luck using NeroVision Express 3. It does preserve the aspect
ratio of the divx which other programs I have used do not do. Some divx
files do not make good DVD's.

I am not sure about menus though. It takes about an hour to encode a full
length movie.

I am not aware of any DivX discs that can support menu's. Is this the new
version 6 codec?

Yeah, there was some stuff from a Divx rep or marketing guy about new
features in 6 and why they had to make changes to Divx etc..

Come to think of it DVD2SVCD prolly won't know how to handle Divx 6
Menus. It can do stuff with source DVD menus. Divx6 wasn't around
when the latest version came out. Maybe someone will to a plugin for
it in the future.
