Hi,

The manual for the dvd player only explains the available options. For
example set the compression to 1/2 1/3...half full. This is just one of the
questions.

But the manual doesn't explain what to set this to. Is there a detailed
information on this setup explainations.

I have no idea what "compression" means in the context of a DVD player.
So, I'm just as stumped as you regarding appropriate settings.

What on earth are you talking about? How about some details about the
player you have in front of you? Along with that info, tell us what
you want to do. Apparently, no here is able to read your mind this
week. I know I can't.

The question everyone is wondering Why would you have to set an
compression on a DVD player?
On a DVD recorder the video and sound is compressed to be able to fit
more on a DVD disc. Usually you set the DVD recorder to SP (Standard
mode) to record 2 hours of good quality video. The other options are
LP which gives less quality be allows more to be recorded on a DVD
disc (3 or 4 hours).

If you use a dvd camcorder (Mini-DVD or 8mm disk) in SP mode you get
about 30 minutes.
