Problems playing damaged rented DVDs--new player needed |
|
|
I have problems playing damaged rented DVDs, as my $30 player
has a hard time ejecting damaged DVDs. I need a new player.
I have an old TV (maybe 6-8years old), but it will be while before
I need to replace it.
I want a combo DVD/VCR player, that is reliable as possible.
e.g. will eject scratched DVDs, which I often get.
I can't always play new DVDs, as I rent from Netflix, and many
of their discs have problems (which you can't really see till you
try playing the DVD), and I also play DVDs from the library of
a rental store.
Any suggestions as to what I should get for minimal problems,
but still under $100, as all I want to do is play.
My VCR player still plays, but its junk too. Are better DVD players
better at playing DVDs that are slightly damaged?

I recently bought a combo, and read that "claim" about playing disks some
others would reject, but I'm sorry I don't remember the brand. I shopped
the online sites below, which had many in the $99 range I was looking for.
After picking a few based on the mfr's write ups/features, I went to Amazon
to look for customer reviews [if there were none at the web sites below].
I finally bought from ABT because they had 1 of 2 models I was looking for
with a good price and free shipping. No one had the JVC in stock, so I
bought a Panasonic for $120. So far it has done OK with NetFlix rentals.

Thanks for the replies. The Panasonic for $120 sounds good, as I had a
similar from Circuit City (CC) in mind.
The one I have now, which was only $30 (with a $10 rebate),
is one I got from CC.

I wound up getting a sony from CC--a combo DVD/VHS player.
I have Dish satellite, which I think I will dump in favor of DVD and
VHS
only--I don't really care enough about the propaganda called news
and don't want to pollute my mind with commericals.
