MP4 and Philips DiVX player (model dvp5100) |
|

Hi all.
I have a Philips DiVX player (model dvp5100)- purchased last month -
which I am told has the MediaTek MT1389xx chip-set.
As far as I can tell it does NOT play MP4 files, only DiVX (AVI) files
with subtitles (video and sub file must have less than 12 characters as
the name). The handbook does show the MP4 logo but Philips and others
have said that it will NOT play these.. which is more than a pity.
I've tried conversing MP4 files to DiVX but cannot find a conversion
program that works. The MP4 files will play on my PC but seem quite
fussy about the player they will play in... the VLC media player 0.8.2
works well and so does the very latest version of Quicktime 7.0.2 but
the official current version Quicktime 6 will not.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Roy
