Help burning DVD |
|
|
Ok, I have a movie in AVI format, I was told since it has already been coded AVI it can't be burnt to DVD
as a video DVD and get both the correct video and audio.
This can't be true can it? If its possible how do I do it?
PLEASE HELP ME!! My wife is bugging me to get these burned! :)

Someone will probably come along that can help you, but until then, where do
you want to play these .avi files (computer only or Set top DVD players)?
Do you have any software to author a DVD, do you have a DVD burner and what
kind?
Do you have any experience with this?

I guess I could mention this, Adobe has a full featured 30 day trial
download for Encore 1.5. It is a DVD authoring program so you should be
able to import your .avi to it and make DVDs with Menus and stuff. It will
not, I don't believe, edit the video. The program is fairly expensive to
buy but there are cheaper alternatives. It may take some time to learn,
especially if you don't have any experience with this type of software.
Other places have downloads also, like ULead but I don't know if it is full
featured.

The more specific you are with what it is you are trying to
do and what you have to work with ( in this case what kind
of AVI), the more an answer can be made to directly address
your specific problem. Without specifics: (and since this is the
"alt.video.dvd.authoring" NG)
1. First your AVI need to be encoded as DVD compliant MPEG.
2. Then the MPEG files are Authored as a DVD VIDEO_TS folder.
3. Then the VIDEO_TS folder is burned to a DVD-+R
Go to the site "Clark" mentioned, they have a number of articles on
how to do this.
I find the TMPGEnc products to be the most intuitive and fun to
use, both their Encoders and the DVD Author program.
