My elderly father has been using a JVC Video Recorder for years which is now
wearing out.

He wants to buy a replacement (before VCRs disappear) and doesn't want to
migrate to DVDs. He makes videos on holidays etc. and uses the editing
features of the vcr to assemble compilation tapes from the Camera.

Does anyone know of a suitable machine which can still be bought in the UK.
I've tried a number of web sites and Google but not spotted a suitable
machine yet.

Thanks

look on ebay. as people upgrade to dvd there are perfectly good second
hand vcrs around for little money.
IO would consider an ex broadcast svhs/vhs deck (like a panasonic AG
series) which has connection for edit controllers etc.

i have a blaupunkt rtv-435(i think) with a panasonic g deck mech and
insert edit. some philips models had it too (vr 813?)

I'm American and I have no trouble using any 4 head
vcr, tho many of the bells and whistles have gone away.
To record, you need to get accustomed to recording
with video and audio. People used to be able to tape
from one machine to the other by manipulating two
remote controls from separate VCRs. Its not always
that easy any longer.
