Hi,

It does not matter what kind of DVD or CD I use, I always get the message
"No disc".
Has someone else had this problem?

I have a Pioneer DVR-720H which is similar to the 520 except for a

larger hard drive. I've never had this problem.
Can you give more details on what you are trying to do.
Are you trying to play a DVD or write to a blank DVD?

You could try setting the Pioneer back to factory settings.

I try to put a DVD (commercial, my own or a blank) to play or record. It
does not matter. The player does not recognise the DVD or CD. When I close
the tray the DVD after a short while shows the information "No disc". When I
open the tray again the DVD is in the same position. I guess it is some kind
of HW-problem so I have to bring it back to the dealer.

Yes it looks like a hardware fault. When you the DVD gets loaded into

the drive the DVD recorder checks to see if the DVD is blank, if it is
blank then the DVD is formatted either as a VR type disc or a Video
type disc (depending on the options in your your setup menu). If the
DVD is able to be read then the DVD recorder looks for a directory
called VIDEO_TS and starts to load files from this directory to give
the DVD recorder instructions on what to do such as displaying a menu.
It looks like the laser is faulty on your DVD Recorder.

If the Disc is in the same position then maybe the motor that loads

the disc is faulty.

I just received the repaired recorder. They exchanged the DVD-driver.
