Hi !

Is it possible to increase the audio volume of an AVI file (AC-3) while
keeping the same (5.1) format ?

I tried many tools (BeSweet, VirtualDubMod, etc) but at no avail.

On the Pegasys web site, I read on the "TMPGenc sound plun-in AC3" page
that " Dolby Digital with 5.1 channels or other multi-channel sources
cannot be encoded ."

Is this a product's limitation or there are other technical or
licencing reasons for this ?

I know this can be acheived by extracting the ac-3 to 6 wav, and to
reencode these files after normalization, but I guess a more simple way
exists ?

Thanks

Is this a problem with a specific AC3 encoded file, or all (most) AC3
encodes in AVI? Is this a problem specific to playback on the PC, or is it
also true on a stand-alone, MPEG2 capable player?

I ask because I seem to recall having this issue (years ago?) in PC
playback, and that switching to the AC3-ACM decompressor solved it. And
there may be other decompressors that will do likewise.

The problem is specific to 2 AC3 encoded files. All the others (also
encoded the same way) have normal sound level.

I can't tell for the stand alone player, I don't have one.

I can raise the volume to an audible level in using AC3Filter, but it's
for offline configuration only (I have to stop and restart the player
for the changes to take effect) and this is (IMHO) more a patch than a
cure at the source.
