The disc duplication service I am planning on using requires that the packaging and printing graphics be supplied on their templates and produced by
one of a list of graphics programs. The list doesn't include Adobe Photoshop, which I have and am familiar with, but does list Adobe Illustrator.

My question is: how difficult is it to use Illustrator, given my experience with Photoshop? I don't want to have to spend a couple of weeks to
translate the graphics files to Illustrator format, as I have a deadline of the end of the month. Since I am looking to work with this service in the
future, I would prefer to get Illustrator. The other alternative is to use duplication service's ability to process the existing graphics into their
format, for a fee.

This may be more of a graphics sofware question than a
rec.video.production question (regardless of the connection
with your disc duplicator, etc.)

There appear to be newsgroups where you may get a better
answer than here. For example...
news:alt.graphics.photoshop
news:alt.graphics.illustrator
maybe others as well?

I'm not sure off the top of my head but I think you can export to
Illustrator. Or maybe Illustrator can read .psd files?

I forgot. Give export a shot.

You can import bitmaps into AI, so you could prep your stuff in PS and
import it.

AI is a LOT different than PS, but the type stuff is pretty simple. If
your layouts are type-intensive, you shouldn't have much trouble.

If they can't handle all the common formats, including graphic image
formats, then they are lame. Go find another service.

I'm a duplicator as well.

I'll take your graphics in any format you want to send it in.
