You miss the "Re-Authoring" part that you have to do before Shrinking. I
read there may be a specific program designed to combine more than one DVD
onto single_DVD. But I have never see the program to know if it does the
magically way or similar to what I describe and been doing for years
(above). But no matter what that program may do, it just can't have more
than One_Menu (each DVD has its own Menu or information for the DVD)
Thank you for that clarification Joe! ..... |
Is there any way I can use the "nrg" files for the job as the
original video CD has been returned to the rental shop?

Back to the very basics.
1. When talking about RENTAL (original) DVD (VCD ??????) you need to look at
*if* it has Copy Protection or not then go from there. This is another
story
- Non-Protected, then just copy the sucker CD->CD or DVD-DVD
- Copy-Protected, then you will need to use copier can bypass the copy
protection, or special front-end plugin to use with whatever regular
program you have.
2. The original NRG? well if it works then why not, just burn that sucker
to CD or DVD that you can test it yourself. Or you can just MOUNT it to
VirtualCD to run directly from the ISO (NRG is one of many ISO format
with different extention).
And if you want to keep the originals, then you will end up with 3 DVDs.
Hmmm... if I am not mistaken, the original message you mentioned DVD and
this one you say VCD.... confusing, isn't it?). But it doesn't matter VCD
or DVD, in general they are all work similar to each other. |

This does not answer your q. about putting on 1 dvd.
As cheap as dvds are now, I much prefer to have no compression and use DVDFab to
copy a dvd9 dvd or file to 2 dvd5 disks.(no comp)
You can also remove extraneous vobs/audio channels.
There is a free version called DVDFab Decrypter 2.90 free.

Following the sudden halt in DVD Decrypter development, there is need for
freeware constantly updated DVD rippers. Fengtao Software has released DVDFab
Decrypter and another tool called Free DVD. While DVD Decrypter can still rip
most of the DVDs you can buy, newer DVDs cannot be ripped using it, like Closer.
DVDFab Express (Free Edition) however is up to date and even able to beat Sony
ARccOS protection.

Free DVD removes several protections from a DVD folder on the hard disk. It
removes Region code (RC), region code enhancement (RCE), analog copy protection
(Macrovision), and user operation prohibitions (UOPs). You can use it to get a
free DVD before you burn the DVD folder. It's only 44K.

Hi! .... Now that I have 2 "nrg" files produced by "Nero" (that |
were produced when copying a DVD9 movie), can I do
*anything* with these to make the movie watchable ( but
short of copying to a DVD9 recordable)?
I'm new to this my friend, so .....Come, hold my hand here

It sounds like Nero made two dvd5 sized files as .nrg files?
Use WinISO to extract the .nrg files to the VOB files into separate folders. If
the size is small enough then you can burn to dvd5 disks.
If the extracted files are too big for a dvd 5 disk, then you could use DVDFab
to put all the files on 2 dvds, or just the main title, and desired language on
2 dvds.
I also use dvd Fab on a dvd 5 sized file to see if there is anything I want to
get rid of.
There are other programs (DVD Shrink) that will compress the files enough to
put the dvd9 onto a dvd5 but on a big screen TV, the compressed video may be
noticeable.
Alcohol 120 will burn a dvd9 .nrg file to dvd but you would need a dvd9 burner
and disks.

How do you split a movie with Shrink? I have used for a while but don't seem
to find any feature that would allow splitting a movie.

Some movies are too big to be shrunk properly, and need to be split
between
2 discs, or burned to a double layer disc. Shrink can split a movie very
nicely.
