Does anyone know if this can be used as a video to DV converter?
If I plug a video source into the players will any DV directly come out
of the iLink port or do you have to actually burn something to get iLink
out.

There is no output signal at all on the iLink port....only input.

The MPAA insists that recorders made in the US not have digital throughput.
This feature is also disabled on most Tivo type boxes.

Sounds like a case of false advertising then. The one I saw at
Futureshop was marked DV IN/OUT. And pioneers web sites pdf makes the
same claim.
