I am looking at a Bose Lifestyle 8 system. It does not seem to be "Series
II". Presumably, it is the version before System II.

What difference is there between the systems?

Better quality string between the 2 tin cans.

The previous post seems to reflect the general low regard many

knowledgeable people feel toward the sound quality of Bose speakers. I
don't think Bose is necessarily a bad product but I am amazed that they
are able to get the prices they get in a competitive marketplace. An ex
employee of Bose once told me that he had worked for a marketing company
that happened to make speakers. Buy Bose? If I were asked to advise a
consumer looking for good performance at a competitive price I wouldn't
suggest Bose. If I were to advise a consumer looking to impress his wife
and other people who knew little about speakers, and to whom cost was
irrelevant I could recommend Bose because the general public has great
respect for the name, it sounds fine to most people, and their stuff
looks downright cute.

I would recomend the person just use his tv set as his sound system. Most are
of a far higher quality than bose and most have better than 2.5" drivers. They
sure are a hell of a lot less boomy.

$1500 for the sound of a $50 boom box. Amazing.
