Anyone has ever tried this console in 16 channels?
Any comments about it?

Own two, use them at least twice a week and have been for about three
years. IMO for the money they are EXCELLENT. They get thrown around but
keep working.

Yes, you can get better boards. But imo in their pricerange you'd be
hardpressed to find a better one!

agree totally. Don't own one but use one regularly (the 16 aswell).

Great board. This one is installed so doesn't get thrown around but its used
every night for a variety of diferent acts. Its on its limit at the moment
(every aux and input used). channels fed from a sub mixer (little folio
notepad...where would we be without them).

I've used the 24ch version.

It's nice. Does the job.

Didn't like the location of the aux send masters.

That's it.

Use 24 channel version all the time, very happy with performance,
although in built effects would be useful.

We use a 24ch version at our theatre all the time, both for sfx
playback and for the occasional live acoustic show.

No problems, been very reliable for us so far, and no touring engineer
has complained.

What about the quality of the equalitation , and the gains?

I own and use two LX7s and have installed quite a lot of them. They are

reliable, the eq sounds good and responds well (I prefer it to the eq on the
GL2200), the mic pres sound fine and have plenty of headroom. I don't
hesitate to recommend it.

The Midas does have the best pres and eq
but the Soundcrafts are very very good
it was a few points that shot down the Midas
1. 60 mm faders

2.rear mounted phantom power switches

3Poorly thought out aux section
the Midas has 2 pre ,2 post, and 2 switchable
so the most you can do is either 4 pre or 4 post
the LX7 auxes are 4 switchable in pairs and 2 post
which means you can get 6 post fader auxes and turn the lx7 into a VERY
VERY good 6 send monitor desk(this was the main reason I choose the lx)

4 the vent holes along the back edge bleed sun/ambient light into the
meter leds rendering them useless in most situation outside of dark rooms

the down sides to the lx are single circuit board construction, a big
PITA if repairs are needed, I have thousands of hours on 2 24 ch lx7's
with no fails

the plastic shaft pots , attention is needed as they can break off
I broke off the gain pot shaft on ch 24 by not lifting the case lid far
enough once, I am much more careful now

no little light socket, you have to carry mix position light

no second power supply option

The Midas you are paying for the name which is ironic as it is just a

rebadged DDA. The soundcraft is a much better board but why not go digital
instead? You get all your FX, gates, compressors, fully parametric EQ and
full automation for the same money as you are spending on an analogue board.

Take a look at the Behringer DDX3216 or the yamaha 01V.

I really like the spundcraft LX7 , now i think they have two models , the
old LX7 and the new one Lx7ii , which must be really similar i guess.

The only thing i miss in that console is that it doesn´t have signal meters
for each channel , which i find really good for live mixing so you can
control every channel´s level...

Any other board in a 1500/2000$ range , more than the soundcraft?

The Allen & Heath GL2200 is in the same price range (in the UK anyway) and
has better features IMHO, e.g. 4 led signal meters per channel. It also has
separate PCBs per channel.

Cheers,
