My turntable is humming badly. Someone told me that the sound may be
caused by bad grounding. Please give me advice about how to correct this
problem.

Two quick things to check:
a) the ground wire from the phono is hooked to the ground lug
on the receiver. A receiver with a dedicated phono input
will have such a screw terminal.
b) try ensuring both receiver and turntable are plugged into
the same electrical outlet/circuit.

If those fail, go looking for a bad phono signal ground cable on the
turntable. Failing that, my attention would turn to the receiver.
