Hi

With cable being sent to your house, how does the cable company know
how to "activate" certain channels? Well, now a days in my area CC has
no paid channels on analog anymore... just all the normal stuff... but
for those that do, how do they activate/descramble the paid channels?
isnt the signal just sent everywhere? I've noticed neighbors just pull
this thing on the box with all the connection wires and connect
themselves up.. is that all the cable company does?

And with digital, does the box send an ID back to the company? So they
associate with a customer? Thanks
