I've gotten 2 drives from this guy. Both were shipped fast and worked
great (seperate directivos). His prices are a small premium over the
basic drive price. I do recommend his services. I am not connected

Hey just sharing a good experience with a vendor that I trust that has good
prices. a 160 GB drive alone for that price is not a bad deal. Just trying
to help the community as a whole. It's my .02 USD. |

Is this for real? Has anybody else ever dealt with them? They claim to have
preconfigured TIVO software on the disk - just unplug the old one and plug
in the new one. I didn't think you could get the software except by backing
up your old drive, Isn't this like bootlegging Windows?

I can't speak to whether this guy is legit or not, but I can say it
isn't like bootlegging Windows. Windows isn't tied to a particular
piece of hardware, you are purchasing the license for it seperately
(even if it comes packaged w/ your purchase of a Computer, which is how
most people get it). You *can* by Windows by itself, you *can't* buy
the TiVO software that way. Now, that's *not* to say that TiVO wants or
allows 3rd parties to distribute their software, there may very well be
language in their usage agreement forbidding that.

It is legit I've gotten 2 drives from him. Put in the drive, clear all
program data
(it's an image of an existing system) make a call and you are all set. I've
got 2 directivos running with 2 of his 160 gb drives. He also uses PayPal
so
you have that protection going for you as well.
