At times my Sony (DVP-735D) player has problems playing back a movie.
The picture freezes and when this happens the DVD player will either
continue after a few seconds or just back to a previous episode.
This happens no matter what the media is such as a commercial DVD
movie disk or A DVD-R home video disk.
Sometimes the same DVD disk will playback with no problems.
There are no marks of scratches on the DVD's.

Any ideas what might cause this problem?

Is it worth using a CD/DVD cleaning disk to clean the laser or would
this likely to cause more problems?

I'm thinking that maybe the DVD player need a warm up period after
switching it on.
